Dry Needling
Dry needling is the use of acupuncture needles to reduce pain, improve function, and heal tissue injury. It is used to calm nerve sensitivities, improve muscle function, promote healing in tendons and ligaments, reduce joint pain, and break scar tissue. Common conditions that would benefit from dry needling include: arthritis, tendonitis/tendinosis, plantar fasciitis, chronic headaches, neck/back pain, nerve pain, and joint pain.
Blood Flow Restriction Therapy
Blood flow restriction therapy is the use of blood pressure cuffs in a controlled manner to restrict blood flow to strengthen the muscle. The benefits of the use of blood pressure cuffs to restrict blood flow is that it allows strengthening while minimizing stress on joints, ligaments, and tendons. Therefore, strengthening can take place despite weight lifting restrictions for procedures such as ligament or tendon repair. Blood pressure restriction therapy is also great for people who lack the strength or ability to use resistance bands and weights, but would still like to build muscle and gain strength!
Cervical Traction
A cervical traction unit helps with decompressing the neck and allows pain relief from arthritis and pinched nerves. Our nerves exits out little spaces from the bones of our spine before they branch out to the rest of our bodies. As we age or get hurt, these nerves can be compressed by arthritic bone spurs and disc bulges at the spaces they exit the spine. Traction pulls on your head and neck and opens up those spaces in our spine so that your nerve gets breathing room. This reduces neck pain and arm pain that may be coming from nerve compression and irritation. Traction can even help reduce disc bulges in some cases!
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
IASTM uses medical grade steel to give a more comprehensive and effective massage to muscle tissues, tendons, and ligaments. They function to help break scar tissue, loosen myofascial restrictions, improve muscle flexibility, and reduce pain. Each specific tool has edges and shapes to help work around boney prominences and reach areas that are hard to reach with one’s hands.
