Vestibular Neuritis

Vestibular neuritis refers to damage to the vestibular nerve that causes a sudden and intense dizziness. This can sometimes be associated with nausea and vomiting. It can be be precipitated by being sick with a virus. The initial onset of dizziness usually lasts about 2 weeks, and is improved with some medications prescribed by your physician. After the initial dizziness and nausea subsides patients are usually left with a sense of imbalance and unsteadiness with walking and head turns.
